Terms of use

Last updated: 22 September 2026

These terms govern your use of theenergyupgrade.co.uk. By using the site, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Who we are

This site is operated by Jardine MC Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 11509028, with its registered office at Lynch Farm, The Lynch, Kensworth, Bedfordshire, LU6 3QZ, United Kingdom. You can contact us about anything in these terms at editor@theenergyupgrade.co.uk.

What this site is, and what it is not

The Energy Upgrade is a publisher. We are not an installer, an energy supplier, a heating engineer or a regulated financial adviser. We do not fit equipment, we do not sell equipment, and we do not carry out surveys.

Everything on this site is general information about home energy upgrades in the UK. It is not advice about your property, your heating system, or your finances. Every home is different, and the only way to know what a heat pump, solar array or insulation measure will cost or achieve at your address is to have an appropriately qualified person assess it.

Before committing to any installation you should take advice from an MCS-certified or otherwise suitably qualified installer, and satisfy yourself independently about eligibility for any grant or scheme.

Accuracy

We take care with the figures we publish and we say where they come from. Grant values, scheme rules, energy prices and installation costs all change, sometimes at short notice, and pages can fall out of date between reviews. Where we are working from an estimate rather than a verified figure, we say so.

We do not warrant that the content is accurate, complete or current, and you should verify anything you intend to rely on, particularly grant eligibility and deadlines, against the relevant official source.

Installers

We do not operate a quote service and we do not pass your details to installation companies. Nothing on this site is a referral, a recommendation or an endorsement of any particular installer, manufacturer or supplier.

Where we describe how to find and check an installer, that is general guidance. Any contract you enter into for a survey, supply or installation is between you and that company, on their terms. We are not a party to it, and we have no liability for the quality, timing, price or outcome of work they carry out, nor for any statement they make to you. Any dispute is a matter between you and them.

You should carry out your own checks, including verifying certifications, requesting references, and obtaining more than one quote.

How we make money

At present, we do not. The site carries information about energy upgrades and we receive no fees from installers or suppliers.

If that changes, we will say so on this page and on our editorial standards page before any commercial arrangement begins.

Third-party sites

We link to external sites, including government pages, official registers and research sources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability. A link is not an endorsement.

Intellectual property

The content of this site, including text, layout, graphics and data compilations, is owned by or licensed to Jardine MC Limited and is protected by copyright. You may read it, print a copy for your own use, and share a link to it.

You may not republish, sell, or systematically copy or scrape the content, or reproduce substantial extracts, without our written permission. Short quotations with clear attribution and a link back are fine.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

Subject to that, we do not accept liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from reliance on its content, including any decision to install or not install any measure, any shortfall between projected and actual savings, or any loss of grant eligibility.

We do not guarantee the site will be available without interruption or free from error.

Acceptable use

You must not use this site unlawfully, submit false or misleading details when contacting us, submit another person’s details without their knowledge, attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, or use automated means to scrape or overload it.

Changes

We may revise these terms at any time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continued use of the site after a revision means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
