Corrections
If something here is wrong, out of date or unclear, please tell us. Grant rules change at short notice and energy prices change quarterly, so a page written in good faith in one month can be wrong by the next.
Corrections from people who have actually been through an application are particularly useful. If an installer or a scheme administrator told you something that contradicts what we have published, we would rather hear about it than leave the page wrong.
It helps if you can include the page, the figure or statement in question, and where your information came from. We correct errors and update the page date rather than quietly editing, as set out in our editorial standards.
Questions about your own property
We are a publication, not an installer or an advisory service, and we are not heating engineers. We cannot tell you whether a specific property qualifies for a grant, what a particular installation would cost, or whether a quote you have received is reasonable.
Those questions need someone who has surveyed your home. Our guide to choosing an MCS installer covers how to find one and what to ask.
What we can help with is understanding the rules. If a scheme’s eligibility criteria are unclear, or you cannot work out whether something applies to your situation, it is worth asking. It also tells us which parts of our guides are not doing their job.
Installers and industry
We are not currently passing enquiries to installers, and we take no fees from anyone in the industry.
We are, however, interested in talking to MCS-certified installers about how the market actually works: what enquiries are worth, whether you are constrained by demand or by capacity, and what a genuinely useful referral would look like from your side. Not a sales conversation, and nothing to sign up to. If that is of interest, get in touch at the same address.
If we do introduce a commercial model, we will set it out on this page and in the footer before it goes live. Whatever form it takes, it will not buy editorial coverage, favourable mention, placement in any list, or any influence over what we publish. Our editorial standards page sets out the separation in full.
To be clear about how this works: we receive a fee from installers when we pass on an enquiry. That fee buys enquiries and nothing else. It does not buy editorial coverage, favourable mention, placement in any list, or any influence over what we publish. Our editorial standards page sets out the separation in full.
We do not publish sponsored posts, paid links or guest articles.
Press and data
Happy to help journalists and researchers with anything we have published. If you want to cite our figures, please link to the page and note the last-updated date, since the underlying numbers change.
Privacy
Anything you send us is used to answer you and nothing else. We do not sell or pass on contact details, and emailing us does not sign you up to anything. Our privacy policy has the full detail.
